About Me

Hi, I’m Monique! Welcome to my blog.

I am the second of four children born to Haitian Immigrants. I was born and raised in the Midwest but have had the privilege of living in several different cities (in the US and abroad) since completing high school. Currently, I work as a Nurse Scientist doing HIV research in Georgia.

By the time I was 28 years-old, I had earned 2 bachelors degrees, 1 masters degree, 1 post-masters certificate, and 2 doctorate degrees. After the excitement of graduation died down, I became completely overwhelmed.  I began to realize that, in all of my educational pursuits, I had lost sight of who I was. I had become so consumed with meeting everyone else’s expectations of me that I forgot to pay attention to what I wanted and needed for myself. Thus began my personal journey towards self-care, self-love, joy, peace, and happiness.

Now, I wake up every morning setting out intentionally to live my best, most fulfilled life. As life is ever evolving and expanding, I created this blog as a platform to chronicle my thoughts, experiences, adventures, accomplishments, setbacks, changes, and everything in between, while I continue on this journey. Having come into full awareness of my worth, I have learned to prioritize self-care and self-love. Consequently, I now experience the joy, peace, and happiness that life has to offer. I hope this blog inspires and empowers others to do the same.
